facebook ad getting clicks from places i'm not advertising, why? - Brandon - 11-09-2012 10:28 AM

My facebook ad is getting clicks and "likes" from places i'm not advertising. How is this so? It's wasting my money due to the fact I only need ads in my state. I set the location also. Has this happened to anyone else?

With Facebook, when you set a location the ad is displayed to anyone who has the say location. The downside of this is that the ad can be displayed to someone when they are outside of that area. So say you have your ad set to display to everyone in the US and someone from the US is visiting a relative in Canada. When they click your ad, if it is for a CPA offer, they will get an error message saying they are outside of the target country or something like that. The reason this happens is the network hosting the ad does geotrageting by the IP address. There is nothing you can really do about this.
