There is a new girl in my classes, who seems really nice (I am a girl by the way). Only problem is, she's italian. She speaks a few key sentances like how are you and answers but hardly enough to have a proper conversation. I am friends with her on facebook and everything. How can we become good friends? I really want her to be comfortable here.

2) Speak to girl

Just try to talk to her a bit. If she doesn't understand, then you can show her or mime it.
If you know any Italian, talk to her. Even if you know any Spanish, the two languages can be similar depending on what you're talking about.
You can look at the website I've linked to learn how to speak some words.
