Is it just me or are there new ad's everywhere? - Katie - 11-09-2012 10:45 AM

OK so for three days now I thought my computer had a virus cause I was hearing audio ad's almost nonstop The ad's would even overlap each other and it would sound like 5 voices at once coming threw my speakers. Now I ran some scans and deleted some suspicious files but the ad's kept coming. Now I do leave multiple tabs open and I have started catching the commercials that the audio is playing on yahoo (mainly) facebook and youtube. I can also click the sound off feature for most of these ad's and that stops the audio. Or I if I keep these websites off my computer there are no ad's....But I have never had ad's just randomly play on these websites before and I wanna leave multiple tabs up while still playing music...Is this happening to anyone else or is there something actually wrong with my system?

Your system needs a clean up. All temp files associated with your browsers need to be deleted. Also any browser add ons and BHO's need checking.

There's tons of software that can do it.

For people who don't really know what to keep and what to remove there's:

If you want a deeper clean try BleachBit, Privazer or System Ninja. They're really for more advanced users.

The best thing to do is to prevent your machine from connecting to ad servers.

follow the first person's advice, and then get adblock. i don't see internet ads anymore. it works really well and you don't even notice, but there are less annoying flashing lights and text and noises. makes the internet pleasant.

I'm not sure if you fall into this category, but...

This procedure has succeeded with others here who've complained of background noises/voices/music.

Try this:

Firstly, boot your computer to the Safe Mode menu screen. You do this by repeatedly pressing F8 as soon as you boot up. Once there, use the arrow keys to highlight Safe Mode with Networking. Continue to boot from there, by pressing Enter. You will now see some drivers being loaded. There will be a pause at some point. This usually lasts for no more than 30 seconds.

Now open your browser and download TDSSKiller.exe from Kaspersky Lab. It's tiny, and takes just a minute to run. It hunts down and kills a specific family of rootkits.

Regardless of the results, download and run Dr. Web CureIt! (still in Safe Mode):

Now download the free version of Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware (MBAM). Install it, get updates and run a full scan:

You should now delete TDSSKiller.exe and Dr. Web CureIt!, as updated versions are often made available. MBAM can be easily uninstalled, but it may prove to be beneficial in the future.

Hope this helps.

It sounds like you have a malicious program on your computer known as "adware" that is injecting the ads, see here for more info: https://www.facebook.com/help/adware

If you just want to get rid of Facebooks normal ads, the best way to do it is to install the FB Purity browser extension, its 100% safe & has lots of features for keeping your facebook clean from ads and other junk you dont want to see:
