It means a lot of people are tweeting about the same person or activity

"trending" basically means immediately popular. Often when someone is immediately popular "trending" i can mean that there is some sort of new news or info on this person. Their page may have been generating a bunch of hits lately..more than the norm..normally when someone is trending its way of saying to check it out to see whats new...hope this helps
