It would ease my mind to know that people who search for me on facebook can't see my profile picture. There are new privacy settings, so I'm wondering if this is possible and if so, how? I don't even want some people to know I use facebook... thanks in advance!

Theres no way. You can block certain people to where when they look for you in the search, you wont come off. You cut them off from all connections. Just block 'em.

no you cant sorry. i do remember reading somewear that you can make your account invisible to anyone but friends that you add.

You can't. Even if you block your profile, people can still see your picture.

Customize settings
Edit album privacy for existing photos.
Profile Pictures
-> choose Friend only or Customize

Look in Privacy setting, which is under Account.
