I want to be able to make my own groups ie: work colleagues, friends, cinema buddies etc and put individuals into these groups.
I know i can make a family group.. but i dont see any options to create any further groups.
Is it possible to create further groups and if yes, how?

Yes its possible and those groups are called lists. in your friends tab you can see your lists go to the bottom you will see create a new list. Just create and add people to it as per your choice

yes but instead of groups its called list go to your home page go lists than create a list to make one good luck
