I can look for people and search to become fans of people, but how do u search to become fans of THINGS or new groups?

type in the search bar the group that you are requesting and so many would pop up for example Washington Redskin have a page fresh prince all men club just type the kind of group you want and go from there

Just use the search bar. Once you've entered the text and the results come up, you're able to narrow down your choices by choosing either People, Pages, Groups, Events, or Web. Hope this helps.

on the top right hand corner of the facebook page, next to the button 'Log out" you will see like a grey box with the words Search which you can use for searching people right? type in your desired group name for example, the I hate Miley Cyrus group. then, you will see a list of items, maybe some pages, maybe some people, and maybe some groups. just click on the one you want.
if you cant find it, on the page, underneath where your search is written, there is like a series of buttons with "all results" "pages" "Groups: and etc. Click on the "group" one in this case, and all the 'I hate Miley Cyrus groups will show.
