Are Facebook Privacy Settings Affecting My Messages? - Abigail - 11-09-2012 11:00 AM

I sent a message to someone from across the country, so neither me nor any of my (mutual) friends are connected to him. On Facebook, I apparently had my Privacy Settings set so that "Only Friends of Friends" could message me. So does this mean that even if this guy got my message, my privacy settings were unable to let him respond? He hasn't replied, so I don't know if it's by accident or on purpose. Some clarification would be great! Thanks!
Oh my goodness, I had no idea! I even checked my own, and I had 7 messages I had never seen before. :/ So, if I send this person a friend request, will he be able to then see the message that I sent him? Like, will it move to it's actual inbox, or will I have to send him another one?

when you send a message to someone that isnt a friend, they arent notified about it at all, and it's not even put into their message folder, it's put into their "other messages" folder, so they probably have no idea you ever sent it to them in the first place
