For me, the best thing to sell online would be fashion accessories. I would prefer buying those compared to shoes or dresses as sizes won't matter that much.

Your better off selling anything you have knowledge in. If you like exercise than find books, vitamins or health equipment to sell. If you like cars or electronics do the same. If you like the outdoors sell camping equipment, hiking equipment, fishing gear. You get the point. It's referred to as a Niche online. Find your Niche and work with it. Your life will be easier on you, in the long run. People like to buy from experts who know what they are selling and talking about. Hope that gives you some good ideas to think about. Goodluck.

It's tough to make a profit from paid advertisement, even seasoned marketers have to test market, revise and test their ad copy and design before they can profit from a new campaign.
You particularly can't hard sell on social sites, where your ad is more of an interruption, while search engine ads on google & yahoo-msn-bing catches people searching for products who are in much more of a buying mood. There was recently a crackdown on some of the most profitable products, which were diet, tooth whitening, acai berry sales that got people on an auto re-billing plan charging like $80/month.
Affiliate marketing gaming products/memberships and downloads is one of the richer area that fit social site advertising better than hard products.
By the way, it;s not that easy to sell dating on plenty o fish, promoting a free trial with 2nd month billing on an actual free site is a tough sell.

I would strongly suggest that you sell cookbooks. Household moms would surely love to get one specially if the recipe's are easy to cook and easy to follow. If you don't like the Idea, you can also try to sell affordable stuffs. They are easy to market...
