Well here's the thing:
Facebook recently got rid of the "Become a Fan" option. They renamed it "Like"
So everything that you previously would have "Become a fan of" is now something you "Like"
So that's that....
Now the difference between "Like" and "Group" is that "Like" is much more casual, it's just something you can add...as in. "Oh yeah, I like that thing" or "Oh yeah I can definitely relate to that"
But a "Group" is more...for instance when you become a part of a Group they can send you updates via private messages, their updates can come up on your homepage, and there is likely to be more discussion and activity on the page. Hope that helps!
