What I do is you look what trending on twitter and you keep tweeting what's trending, say smart things
and if your a belieber, directioner etc tweet other fans and they will get your followers right up! on my old twitter I gained 360 by doing this

Networking is a definite plus, follow other users with lots of followers, post interesting tweets. Do you have other social media, Facebook, MySpace, YouTube? Right here on Y!A (on your profile about me, not in your answers!) Let others know your twitter handle.
Best way still is post cool stuff! Or be famous... but well that's another box of macaroni.
