Facebook is a free, so they need something to pay for it. Those ads are keeping facebook free!
If you don't like it, don't use it.
Problem solved

Google Chrome or FireFox: Search "Adblock for FireFox/Chrome" Download. Enjoy. (Works on YouTube ads too)

Use an Ad Blocking extension for your browser.

Depends on your browser.

Adblock plus is an extension for Firefox and Chrome that will eliminate most, though not all, ads from websites. Free from http://adblockplus.org

A similar (free) product for Safari is available here: http://safariadblock.com

If you're using Internet Explorer, it's a bit trickier.

To use IE's native adblocking ability, try this trick here:

There's also a free add-on called IE7Pro that has an ad blocker, among other bells and whistles. Several of my office mates use it, but I haven't played with it myself.

Finally, there's an IE plugin called Simple Adblock (http://simple-adblock.com) that costs $30 if you want it to block more than a couple of hundred requests a day.

Hope this helps!
