I tried looking on the left-hand menu thing with the applications but I didnt see the groups icon.
What do I do?

search from box, but remember for delete all cookies

In that case you might not have installed it, in which case in the side go on edit apps, then go down to the bottom on the right hand side it should say applications developed by facebook, go on it and search groups, download groups and it should appear in the side.
