how can i disable the notification on ticker and on my timeline when i add a certain person as a friend
(e.g.: James and Sam are now friends)

Its when you go to privacy setting and set it has private . For ex. Ur friends cant see ur friend list and so as this notifications. Go to privacy setting and there will be situated this, or else you can find it in the securities.
