I have almost 500, I feel like this isn't very many compared to my friends, but I don't like being friends with people I don't know.

The number of friends you have is not a competition....just be friends with people you know.

Too be honest it's probably safer for you to have less friends, don't go around adding people you don't know, because they can see all your info which isn't safe.
If your friends are bragging try this "oh youre cool because you have more facebook friends then me, this isn't myspace and we are in HIGHSCHOOL why does that matter"
