Will my IPhone Apps work in Spain? - Damien Mitchell - 11-09-2012 11:51 AM

I know I won't be able to call or text people, but will I still be able to use apps like Facebook or Angry birds in Spain? (Verizion)

YES - your apps inside your phone will work just fine.

- BUT DO ABSOLUTELY NOT use anything that is in any way, shape of form connected to the Internet

Why? Because the data plans for a visitor will make you poor. A typical two min look at your Facebook will cost about $ 50 - $ 75. (Fifty to seventy five DOLLARS)

So, do make totally sure that you disconnect all 3G, all data services or location services in your phone before you land. Use your phone ONLY to receive calls with. Do not use the map feature, it will cost you about $ 25.00 per MINUTE.

Pre pay your telephone company before you leave home. For that you typically pre pay about $ 60 for 40 min of telephone use. No plan, tel-calls $ 2.50 - $ 4.00 per min, SMS about $ 1.00 - $ 2.00 each, coming or going. Be forewarned.

For all outgoing calls you use skype whenever you are in a WiFi zone.

Download it for free here, use your credit card to prepay about $ 10.00, it will give you plenty of calling time to most any telephone in the world for about $ 0.02 per min (Two cents per minute) :

For email and any other Internet services, only use it when you are connected to WiFi. There are WiFi hotspots everywhere in Spain, just ask for the password, if needed.

Check with Verizon. Not us.

If your phone is unlocked, you should be able to call and text people.

Such things will cost, though.

You may simply want to have it along for the camera...I took photos on my old phone...still have them in my phone, three phones later.
