How to tactfully tell my FaceBook friends...? - davin - 11-09-2012 11:57 AM
I have recently been laid off and I would like to tell my facebook friends in a very tactful way. I hold no hard feelings toward my company, and do not choose to make them look bad in anyway. I am looking for a very tactful way to tell my FB friends about my recent situation without sounding like I am talking bad about the company or whinny in any way. I simply want them to know since many of my customers are also FB friends.

Maybe just update your status saying something about missing your colleagues or the company?

what is the need to do this in the first place.. why the need for an updated post about your not working any more..? why does all your facebook friends need to know?
if someone asked you on a personal message, then tell them, but I see no need to post it for all to see.. 'hay everyone, just lost my job,,but no hard feelings toward my former company,,cause they might see this or another company that I would want to hire me. love ya all"..

I agree with Cally, this is a tactful and reasonable way to let your friends and customers know. I do feel it is important to get the word out since this will allow others to know why you are no longer there by answering in a message privately if they inquire. However - above all, this is a GREAT networking opportunity! You may even consider Linkedin as a resource - you never know how many of those customers that are also friends or acquaintances also have a Linkedin account or work for someone that does.

I also very much doubt that Davin's intention is "no hard feelings toward my former company,,cause they might see this or another company that I would want to hire me."
Do what you feel you need to do Davin, it is ultimately your decision. However, I commend you on reaching out to others to enlist ideas for a tactful way to do it.
