What happens to someone's facebook profile if they die? - Chrissie H - 11-09-2012 12:06 PM

My friend died almost a year ago and his profile is still on facebook. What happens to such profiles? Do they just stay there and endure indefinitely or can someone remove their profile? If so, how is this done?

by going to security settings on their facebook and deactivating it. if no one deactivates it, it will still stay open.

The wizard who owns the internet keeps track of all people who uses the internet. If they die, the powerful wizard finds out and instantly removes his facebook page. If that person had a myspace page, that page isn't deleted because no one cares about myspace anymore.

I remember reading somewhere that the people who run Facebook may monitor whether or not someone has died. If that's not the case, you can always get on the actual account and disable it. To do that, you would go to Account Settings, then somewhere near the bottom, there should be "Disable Account" or something similar.

This should help you with your question.

As long as you can get the immediate family to contact facebook, then the account can be taken down.
