Help with facebook and cookies? - Someone - 11-09-2012 12:10 PM Mkay, so, I started facebook a few days ago, and I read that they track you, even if you log out! I checked and several sources said this. It's called "frictionless sharing" Look, several sources (sorry they aren't links, I'm level 1 troll, but right now I am serious. If you don'.t trust me, fine - google "facebook tracks after you log out." They are the first things that pop up): http://www.zdnet.com/blog/facebook/facebook-tracks-you-online-even-after-you-log-out/4034 http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2393564,00.asp http://www.usnews.com/news/articles/2012/02/23/lawsuit-says-facebook-tracks-users-after-logging-out http://www.nikcub.com/posts/logging-out-of-facebook-is-not-enough http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2011-09/26/facebook-offline-tracking I don't like my sites visited being shared, but facebook posts them (when I'm logged in) anyways. I don't want the same to happen when I'm not logged in. You all use the internet - you know perfectly well there are many guilty pleasures other people have no right knowing. Anyhoo, the just says: "In order to prevent Facebook from being able to track you, you need to delete all Facebook-related cookies once you've logged out." I use Google chrome. If I go to settings, advanced settings, content settings (under privacy), and tell it to "Keep local data only until I quit my browser" under the cookies section, then close my browser every time I finish using facebook, will I be safe from this then? (Also asking in the computer sections, but they are slow to answer, and most people here have a facebook and a basic understanding of internet, unlike me) - Beth - 11-09-2012 12:18 PM Well... soup |
