They basically have a pool of information, what if the government harnesses the info and create a manipulative society!

You have the option to read the terms before yup sign up. Since that is the case anyone who makes an account is supposed to be aware their information is gathered. If it bothered the person they either have to get over it or use a different website. It makes it much easier for the government to keep tabs on suspected criminals too you know.

But anyway, you're late to the party. Everyone already knows that nothing on Facebook is private.
