So basically I've had my account for about a year now, and I only have 6 followers.

Follow people you know and they usually follow you back! Also a lot of things like @autocorrects and celebrities will have these really stupid tweets saying "follow (insert twitter page here) and I'll follow you back! " I don't know if it's true because I normally don't do it haha, but it's worth a shot!

Well start asking your friends to follow you, maybe your family, the ones that have twitter account. You can also ask your facebook friends. There are a lot of methods for getting twitter followers but what I've found really effective were social media exchange websites.
You can follow other people and gain points, you can then use those points to get followers yourself whenever you like. Pretty sweet system...
