I don't want people to see my profile picture unless they're my friend. Like if i wanted to comment on a fan page, every stranger who looks at the fanpage will see my comment thus seeing my profile picture next to it which i dont want and i don't know how to navigate the new facebook layout

Unfortunately, you cannot hide your profile picture from anybody. It is a way of identifying somebody who you want to become friends with, so you don't accidentally add the wrong "Joe Blogs"
If you really are worried about somebody you don't know seeing your photo, don't have one at all.

You can't hide it.
Just don't have one, then.

Ok what you do is go to the privacy then it will say like block ppl and or block certain ppl from seeing your page.
