These companies provide free service and earn their revenue through shares for implementing or for using on the companies . So, how is it that they gain profits in billions even though they sell nothing except some online ads which are definitely not worth billions in case of profits. So, how does everything go about. If I had to start a website company of my own, What should I do to be successful?

From all the ads posted along the columns. Those are prime spaces for companies to advertise. Just like during the Super Bowl. Those advertisers will pay in the billions for that 30 second ad since there are so many viewers.
