1. Go to your home page, and click on the "Account" tab on the upper right hand corner. Then click on "Edit Friends"

2. At the top of the next page, there will be a button to click on called "Create a List". Make as many lists you would like.

3. If you want to put a certain friend in a certain list, type their name where it says "Search Friends".

4. Hover your mouse around your friend's name. Instead of clicking on the name to see the profile, you should now see a button that says "Edit Lists". Click on that and add this friend to as many lists as you want.

5. Do this for whatever friends you want to allocate into a specific list(s).

6. To control how much each group can see, go back to the top right corner and click on "Account" again, and "Privacy Settings" this time.

7. Click on "Customize Settings", and pick which lists can see which items in your profile. Click on "Custom edit", then you can choose "specific people" and then one or more of your lists to pick who can see a certain album or piece of information in your profile. Or, where it says "Hide from these people", write down one or more list so that no one in those groups you made can see the item.

I hope this is clear enough for you! I totally understand you feel this way. There are some things I want only my closest friends to see, and other things I don't want my family to see! So I use this feature of Facebook often.
