Is it officially time to give up on this guy? 10 points? - Niik - 11-09-2012 12:54 PM

Hey
I've liked a guy since 2009. We were 20 then, and since the first time we looked at each other it felt special. I used to catch him looking at me in class from a distance (before we were introduced by a mutual friend) and he would look away when I noticed. It was like I was the most beautiful person in the whole world.
We are both shy, he is especially shy because he has never had a girlfriend before and is 24 (just turned 24). he is very Christian and studies theology. His friends have always told me he never hits on girls or anything.
The thing is, we lost touch last year and have been catching up every now and then.
His friends have told me he never has coffee with other girls (but he sees me!)
He has really bad phone reception so I cant just call him randomly. Its usually disconnected.
He is slow at texting. I've told him in August to reply to my messages, and he did for awhile but has dropped back
I told him I liked him in April and he denied liking me back (but after that suggested coffee etc)
When Isuggest catching up since Augst (my birthday party) he says he is busy or just doesn't reply.
I invited him to a thing this week and he just didn't reply.
Anyway, I don't know what to do. My friends all want me to forget about him, but that's not constructive. I want to know what to do about the fact he is too shy to see me/and doesn't reply to text messages.
I know he has been on Facebook but I've sent him two messages inviting him somewhere with no response. Time to forget?

yes forget

He's scared he doesn't have much to offer...a lots of communication problems too.
I'd say leave him alone and let him be comfortable, when he notices you aren't bothering him in the slightest--he might realize what he could have and if you are still willing, you can try to see if he's right for you.

If you keep inviting him to things over and over and no reply and text and message him with no reply I think he's giving you a hint to stop contacting him but he's too shy to tell you that so he's hoping you can take the obvious hint.

Either he has extreme anxiety around women OR he's gay. It's as easy as that.

He may either be shy, or really selfish neglecting your feelings like that. I would honestly think after this long, he might of said something by now, Maybe he just wants to be only friends. Don't forget about him. Just move on. You see he has been on facebook? Post about all the amazing times you are having, and when you find a guy that does not completely ignore you hiding behind being too shy, he might just step up, And if by then you still do like him then that is up to you what you do. Good luck Smile

I would say that for whatever reasons he has, I just don't think he is ready for a relationship or wants one. What I would do, is ask him to be really honest, as to whether he has feelings for you or not, and if he says no ask him why, and also ask him why he never replys. If he stays closed off, or tells you he definitely doesn't like you, and being friends with him is not enough for you, then I would say to forget about him. Good luck

By ignoring you, he's treating you like a commodity and disrespectfully.
If you cannot trust him to respond, you have no future. He's not competent

You have all your cards on the table and he doesn't even want to play. I would move on, I'm a guy and I'm telling you that if he doesn't answer you he's with someone else, not interested in you or both.
