adv- u can see stuff from back in the day with continuously scrolling down
dis- all the drama or anything bad ur fb ever had will now be right in front of everyones faces

the timeline has better privacy options, and provides an easy way to look back at all your previous activity
the old profile advantage is that you dont have to learn anything new
but eventually everyone will be converted to the timeline, so you should probably just get used to it
