Yep it does cost money, it can be expensive depending on what type of ad you want to place. If you contact their sales dept, ask for a rate card and media kit, that will help lots

Yes it does. But i usually just find a page with lots of fans and just post the link for the product on their wall. That helps, and it's a free way. You might also try advertising on yahoo answers, but be careful not to break any rules.
