How do you get rid of vlc media player ad viruses? - Taylor - 11-09-2012 01:04 PM

When I downloaded the vlc media player it put weird ads on my facebook and other sites and it specifically said it was not a facebook ad and they did not show up until after this download. They are really quite annoying and I was wondering if anyone could help me out?? Please I am desperate!!
Thank you.

It sounds like you have installed some adware on your computer, probably because you didnt install the VLC software from its official download site, to get rid of it, you should check your web browser for any addons/ extensions or toolbars, that you dont trust, and remove them.
That should get rid of the ads problem. If it doesnt, the next step is to install some antimalware software such as "malwarebytes antimalware" or "super anti spware" make sure you download them from their official sites though. Google them to be sure.

Once you have got rid of that problem, i highly recommend you install the safe and highly rated FB Purity browser extension, as it cleans up facebook from all the spam and ads that facebook themselves insert into your newsfeed. You can get FB Purity here: http://fbpurity.com

BTW the official website for the videolan player is here:
http://www.videolan.org/
you will not get any ads if you download vlc via that site.
