How do I get rid of ads not by Facebook? - Krysten - 11-09-2012 01:08 PM

OK, so, these ads are on my Facebook Timeline and home wall thing (where my friends activity shows) and it's really getting annoying and it's taking up room on my Facebook. Some of them are even a little bit inappropriate I find. And some of them start making noise and stuff when I'm trying to listen to something else on my Facebook or when I'm on YouTube and Facebook at the same time. And there's no "x" button, either to get rid of it. So, I'm just wondering, how do I get rid of it? What is the name of this that I can delete. I want to know. And if this helps I have Google Chrome and Firefox and Windows. I don't know if there's a difference between Windows and Google Chrome and Firefox on how to delete it.
Can someone please help. An honest answer please. Thank you. Smile
Where would my apps be?

on facebook, go to the page that lists all of your apps, and disable all of them to see if that makes those ads go away

It sounds like you have inadvertently installed a type of program known as "adware", that inserts ads into websites that you visit. You need to install and run some anti malware scanning software such as Malwarebytes Antimalware or SuperAntiSpyware to get rid of it.

BTW a great way to remove the normal ads (sponsored posts / stories) on facebook is to install the FB Purity browser extension, its 100% safe & has lots of features for keeping your facebook clean: http://fbpurity.com
