Like on Tumblr, you can search for posts based on the tags. For example, I want to see how many of my FB friends are commenting on politics, or sports, etc.

Yes there is. In the search bar on the top of the facebook page, you can type something in such at "baby" and don't press enter. Wait until it says "see more results for (baby)" and at the very bottom, it should show up if anyone's status says something about a baby.
