You will get more followers by posting interesting material and retweeting stuff. I just setup a new account and I have 50 followers. You can get advice by following me here.

It really doesn't matter what your username is. what matters is what you are tweeting about when it comes to getting followers. For instance if you are tweeting about your personal life then just stick to your name or nick name that everyone knows. If you are tweeting about a hobby or a website then use a different username that relates to the hobby or website. Example if your hobby or website is about DOGS then call yourself TheDogGuru or use your websites title it self as your user name. People will follow you based on their interests after you follow them. If you need to follow tons of people fast and want to grow your twitter followers then you can also use sites like Tweetmore.com to enhance your followers for free. Either way a user name should define what your tweets are about.
