It just seems like my circle of friends seems to be expanded without my concent? I do not want to meet people I do not know or think they know me, well.

if you want privacy, then stop using social networking sites - the whole point in them is to share things

Just Dont add people that you dont know and they wont be able to connect with you

You can always block people from seeing certain statuses or albums of pictures. Or you can always just unfriend them.
