Someone on twitter said "Throw something at him and see if he turtles
" referring to Claude Lemieux. What does turtles mean? Be really slow?

It seems pretty likely that this could refer to him falling onto his back.
I could kind of picture a hockey player as being kind of like an overturned turtle when he falls backward, and I have heard the term used similarly before.
