i have a fb fan page posting fashion looks, with 4000+ fans. is it through ads? where can i read up more on this?

A Facebook page should be a portal to your website. Facebook brings the potential customer to your web site and your website should be monetized, that's how you make money.
You should be able to find more info free by doing a Google search but just be careful as there are a lot of Scam around.
