At first just upload the profile picture as you do it usually, Then as soon you do it go to your timeline or your wall. You will find some post on your wall like " XXXXX changed his profile picture". In that post click edit and then choose "hide post from my timeline".
And now no one will be able to understand you changed your profile picture although you did.

No you can not... First it will say on your timeline that you added a picture and later that you changed your profile picture .... So if you really want you can delete these post from your personal timeline but it will still appear in friends timelines when you first posted it.
