Is it haram to remember someone on the day of their death every year? - BritCaribbeanGirl - 11-09-2012 04:28 PM

Like, make their picture your profile picture on facebook and update your status in their memory, on the same day every year? Because it's my little sister's second death anniversary tomorrow and I'm planning on doing this but I know that you're supposed to only mourn three days? Does this count as mourning? I only want to show that I still remember her because I know I've been acting like she never existed ever since a few months after her death. I just didn't want to look like I was looking for sympathy.

What you have said is correct but you are really missing her. It is ok to remember her and pray for her.

It maybe best to stay away from pictures. If it helps, remember her by talking about her.

May Allah make it easy for you. Ameen.

Remember death is not a sad thing, it is when a person returns to his/her Lord.
