I usually just close the window or go to another site. I have noticed several people online but idle on sites like Yahoo and Facebook. Is it necessary or at least a good idea to actually 'log out' of these sites before leaving them?

If you're on a library computer, then you should log out every time you close the window. I'm never on a library computer, so on mine, I just stay signed in...unless it signs me out for whatever reason. I don't think it would hurt anything to stay signed in if it's on your personal computer. But, if you're on a shared computer, then sign out and should probably delete the browsing history every time you leave that computer, just so nobody can hack into your personal stuff and mess with anything.
