on the main page , where i get peoples tweets , i got someone's tweet and i clicked on their profile & it says im not following them . but if i'm not following them , doesn't that mean i dont get their tweets ? whats going on?

other peoples tweets show up on your feed when the people you follow retweet posts from people they follow. sorry if that sounds complicated.
it just comes up as a tweet from the people you follow.

Try revoking access to ALL your applications and see what happened in the next days. If you don't see those tweets again, one of your app was probably the problem. Some application has "read access AND ~WRITE~ access". "Write access" means that the application can tweet (auto-tweet) and follow people without your consent. You need to be careful when you accept an application on twitter. Beware of the "read access and write access" apps. If the app only says "read access", it's fine.
