What happens when somebody gets reported to facebook or myspace? - Ange - 11-09-2012 04:46 PM

I was wondering what happens when you report someone on facebook or myspace? Like does their account get deleted or suspended or do they get an e-mail or something? Also If you report somebody on facebook or myspace does facebook and myspace let that person know who reported them?

Abuse reports get pooled together and reviewed by support staff.

If the report is frivolous, it's tossed. If the report is serious and actually violates the site's established code of conduct or terms of service, further review and consideration is taken.

Depending on the severity of the violation, the offending material is removed and the user is sent an email basically saying what was deleted, why, and advice to not do it again. For really serious or blatantly abusive violations, the user's account will be closed and the user will likely be banned from creating new accounts.

Persons who report abuse are never revealed. The support staff doesn't even know who made the report, since they are collected anonymously. Reporters cannot be notified of any action taken in regards to the abuse report. Persons getting reported are not told who reported them. That's just stupid... "Hurr this person reported you! LOL!" will only cause drama, which always leads to more abuse.

Abuse reports are an internal and confidential matter. Neither side knows what's going on.
