I heard that people blog. So is it some kind of an essay website or like people who have ideas can give it to anyone... I don't really understand. Is blog like Facebook and Twitter??

A Web site on which an individual or group of users record opinions, information, etc. on a regular basis. Examples are blogger.com and wordpress.

Think of blog like a bulletin board. The person who owns it, posts some messages on the board, and (optionally) asks readers to write their comments.
So basically, it's a medium for one and/or many people to share what they have.
