i am following a celebrity on twitter and i replied to one of their tweets and when i checked back on their profile to see if they replied it said: retwitted by: alicebarlow(celeb i am following) why did they retweet it and what does it mean?

If you see a tweet that is interesting, funny, etc., somehow worthy of being passed on, you would retweet it so all your followers could read it too. So she liked your tweet and wanted everyone to read it.

It means they basically tweeted what you said to them to all of their followers!
RT is the abbreviation for re-tweet. Getting something retweeted is a good thing, especially if you are trying to get more followers.
