I finally want to update my facebook so that people can see my facebook banner but I don't know how. If some one would let me know how to go about doing that. I would greatly appreciate it.

Facebook has already updated all of their members profiles to the new version.
If you are able to get a Facebook Banner, then you are on the new version, go to http://glbanners.com and install a Facebook Banner, after it's finished view your Facebook page.
