Pot odds are essential in poker. But if you are playing some kind of children's poker on MySpace, then don't expect a real game.

The poker I've seen on MySpace or Facebook is not real poker at all. I've no idea why anyone would play it, when you can go on a real site and play for free.

But pot odds, when compared with your drawing outs, will tell you if it is mathematically correct to call a bet. If you don't keep a track of your outs, relative to your bet size, then you are asking for trouble, and you are going to consistently be making the wrong play mathematically. If you are going to be another player on the site, don't be another fish.

LMAO.... POT ODDS mean absolutely nothing online! LOL

Reason.... 80% have no idea what it is! YOU will be betting and donk will chase river and beat you 50% of the time.... Not worth it unless you are in a 109 rebuy with JohnnyBAX

Pot odds are very useful in poker, in the right game.

But if you are playing online and in a loose game or in freerolls, then use prudence! At many of these sites, like myspace, there are players who call everything with anything. And they will out draw you far too often to make pot odds a useful calculation.

Good luck!

Pot odds are essential no matter where you play poker. Pot odds tell you whether or not its profitable to chase your draw. Using pot odds is a LONG TERM strategy. If you are on playing only 50 hands a week you probably will not see the advantage that playing based on pot odds gives you. But over the long haul (thousands of hands) if you play based on pot odds against the maniacs who play any 2 cards, you will come out ahead and they will lose their whole bankroll.
