What should I do about being scared to friend people on Facebook? - Thepersonthatishere - 11-09-2012 05:35 PM

I rarely send friend requests on Facebook. Usually I only add people if they add me first. I started being afraid after I friended my cousin and she rejected me and I was hurt. I want to add a few people right now, but I'm too scared to send requests. I'm afraid of being rejected because it hurts my feelings.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained, as the old saying goes. Not everyone is going to want to be friends with you, not everyone I have sent a request to has added me, but a lot of them have. Fear of rejection can be a powerful emotion, but only if you let it. Don't let one person rejecting you stop you from having fun on facebook, add some friends, see what happens, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Then you shouldn't be on Facebook lol
I don't add people because I already have my closest friends on there. I'll add if someone I met before adds but usually they get plopped in a group I made so they can't see my photos, wall, comments, etc

Just do it. Add someone if you like them. If they reject you then they simply aren't your friend lol
And it's not unusual to get rejected by family. Many people want family to stay out of their business
