I know that you can make it private but I want to know how to keep it so no one can find you. There are certain people I do not want to know I have one. I want one mostly so that I can keep in touch with my family and close friends. If anyone can please help me I would really appreciate it.

Right next to the log out button is a "settings" button. Click on it and go down to "Privacy" and click "manage." Click on search and look at the "search visibility" options. There are some things there that can prevent people from looking at your Facebook page through a search.
