My sister has a Facebook. She's 12 and I am just wondering. I thought that maybe she should just wait a couple years. But personally, what do you think?
She doesn't talk to strangers though, or add strangers, or anything to do with that.
So what do you think? Thanks in advance!
Trust me my parents make sure EVERYTHING is on private.

mmmm... yes and no.
Yes: She makes new friends. and learns to interact with others.
NO: she makes a new friend that is 35 and wants a date....

Of course! If you set her privacy to 'friends only', she will be fine. If her peers are doing it, it will help her to know a bit more about everyone and have fun.

I wanted to believe it is OK. But there are items on facebook that trick 12 year olds. Such as: "who is checking your name:, click here to find out"....so the 12 year old clicks...and its a picture of a scantily clad man....or woman. Theres a LOT of cursing. Stuff a 12 year old will get "into", but does not really understand. Its a lot of fun, but I wish there was a "facebook for tweens" that was a bit safer.

Im 9 years old and I have facebook... I pretty much only use it for games I do add friends though that I know of course. I've also seen 12 year old kids there. Make sure you change EVERYTHING to only friends in the settings

o im sure shes fine.
i made myself a myspace when i was 12, & in 7th grade.
lol its really not as dangerous as the media makes it sound.
especially if shes not adding strangers or talking to much older people.
im sure she'll add people eventually that she doesnt know, but that doesnt nessisarily mean she will be talking to them over facebook.
