Can greasemonkey be used to view private profiles or pics etc on facebook? - MoeJoe - 11-09-2012 06:11 PM

Is it true greasemonkey can be scripted to view peoples locked profiles and pics? Cos if so it sucks that people outside my friends list can access see my profile and pics. If it can be done other than closing profile or being selective about what I put there is there anything I can do to prevent it?

Yes and No because , sometimes the server detects grease monkey and sometimes it does not . Mostly it will and bring up error 505 or server error try again later

Greasemonkey scripts are run within the browser, and browser scripts alone are not very useful for hacking into sites. The chances that Facebook, as a very prominent site, would leave vulnerabilities exposed at this level are very slim.

While the only way to know conclusively whether this is true is to be the one who knows how to do it, the likelihood is so small that it shouldn't bother you.

Assuming it is true, the hacker who can get to some pictures in your profile can probably get to all of them. If this idea truly bothers you, the only recourse is to not upload sensitive pictures to Facebook. I don't believe closing your profile is possible, but that would also be an effective solution.
