Can you keep family from seeing certain FB updates? - Lizzy - 11-09-2012 06:19 PM

I have added my mother as a facebook friend and I've come to realize this was a mistake as she has no sense of humor and tends to make comments on things that I'd rather she didn't. Is there anyway to keep her from seeing some posts? By the way I'm 28, so she doesn't really need to keep tabs on me anymore.

Yes, you can.

Go to your profile. Type your status in there. Before you hit post, notice right beside the 'Share' button that there's a lock sign?

Click on it and a little menu will pop up. Click 'Customise'

A big menu pops up now. It's self explanatory.

The bottom part says 'Hide this from' - just type your mother's name or anyone else that you don't want to see a specific status.

If you don't want her to see wall posts...

At the top right of the screen click 'Account'
Select 'Privacy settings'

At the very bottom middle of the page it says "Block lists" - but JUST above that it says "Customise settings" - click on that.

If you scroll down on this new page, you'll see an area with all of this:

Photos and videos I'm tagged in
Can comment on posts
Friends can post on my wall
Can see wall posts by my friends

... Just edit there.
