Help me? I have a picture that I want to make as my avatar for facebook.

save it to your computer as a .jpg and upload it to your facebook profile page

Save the file as a jpeg file* and then onto your desktop or a file.
After that, just upload it like you would regularly on facebook.

After you're done cropping and editing your picture, you simply need to go to File > Save As, choose .JPEG from the drop-down. The default quality and formatting options are fine.
If the picture's file size is too large for Facebook. Go to File > Save for Web & Devices. This will compress the file size much smaller, while still retaining most of the original picture quality. You can play with the quality settings on that screen to find your best fit.
