It stands for direct message. Like a chat message on Facebook. It's private.

"DM" means Direct Message, it is a message that is sent privately to one person and cannot be seen on your feed.

DM stands for Direct Message. It means that it's private and outsiders can't see it.

I don't use twiter but on facebook Me and my friends always write "DM" and we use it to say Doesn't Matter!
But as I said i am not sure about twiter. I think ither answers are right about it means Direct Message!
